Terms and Conditions

Folkeuniversitetet reserves the right to cancel a course if there are not enough registered participants for it to start. We also reserve the right to cancel a course if unforeseen circumstances arise. Because of this, courses may be postponed and given a new start date. Once the course start is confirmed, you will receive a written confirmation 3–7 days before the scheduled start date.
In addition, Folkeuniversitetet reserves the right to correct any printing or typing errors in course information, course descriptions, exam schedules, and other documentation related to each course.
Folkeuniversitetet also reserves the right to make changes to institutional regulations, including the right to adjust course arrangements, curricula, teaching staff, tuition fees, and more.
Participant’s duty to review and provide information
When you purchase a course from Folkeuniversitetet, you are responsible for familiarizing yourself with these terms and conditions. In addition to these terms, the order confirmation forms part of the agreement. The order confirmation will be sent to you upon registration and includes information about the course(s) you have purchased, the purchase date, and the price.
Right of withdrawal
When you have booked a place on a course, you will receive an order confirmation for your purchase. The order confirmation constitutes a binding agreement.
When purchasing a course via our website or by phone, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal without giving any reason, in accordance with the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act (Angrerettloven). You must notify us in writing if you wish to exercise this right. You may use the withdrawal form received upon registration, or send an email to info@folkeuniversitetet.no.
If you cancel your purchase, Folkeuniversitetet will refund all payments received from you, except for any registration fee (see Course Fees below), without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving your notice of withdrawal. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase, unless you have explicitly agreed otherwise. You will not be charged any fees for the refund.
If you have purchased an online course and log in to the learning portal before the withdrawal period has expired, you waive your right to withdraw, in accordance with section 22 of the Right of Withdrawal Act.
If the withdrawal period expires after the course has started and you still wish to withdraw, you must pay for the portion of the course already offered up to the date when Folkeuniversitetet received your notice, in accordance with section 26 of the same Act. You will then be refunded for the remaining course fee corresponding to the part of the course not yet delivered.
Registration for an exam or other test is binding. This means that once you have registered, you must pay for it even if you are unable to attend. However, if you can provide a medical certificate, you may take the exam or test later without having to pay again.
Course fees and registration fee
For courses purchased on Folkeuniversitetet’s website, the following applies:
All courses must be paid for upon registration, except for courses requiring an application process. For these, a non-refundable registration fee must be paid together with the submitted application. An invoice for the course fee will be sent to you by email at the start of the semester in which the course begins. If the course extends over two semesters, the fee for the second semester will be invoiced at the start of that semester.
Payment
When purchasing a course via our website, you may choose one of the following payment methods:
- Credit or debit card
 - Invoice
 - Third-party payer (for example, your employer or NAV)

For courses purchased through other channels, the course fee and any additional costs will be invoiced and may be paid using the same payment options listed above.
Third-party payer
If you register another party as the payer — for example, your employer — that organization will receive the invoice for your course fee. The organization you list as the payer will also receive an email confirming your registration and that they have been listed as the responsible payer.
If the listed organization does not approve this arrangement, you remain personally responsible for paying the course fee. In that case, you will receive an invoice before the course begins. It is therefore important that you confirm this arrangement with your employer or the organization beforehand.
Withdrawal after the course has started
If you withdraw after the course has started, you will not receive a refund of the course fee unless your right of withdrawal still applies. For courses lasting several semesters, you will not be charged for more than the semester in which the withdrawal was received.
Withdrawals must be made in writing, either by email to info@folkeuniversitetet.no or through other documented means.
Interruption due to illness or social reasons
If you can document through a medical certificate that you are unable to start or complete the course, you may withdraw. In cases of force majeure, you must pay for the portion of the course that took place before Folkeuniversitetet received the relevant documentation.
Personal data and privacy
When you register for a course via our website, your information will be added to our customer database. Folkeuniversitetet complies with the Norwegian Personal Data Act (Personopplysningsloven). We will not share your personal information with third parties. You may request access to the information registered about you by requesting a full data report.
